Sticky & Crispy Hoisin Tofu with Couscous

Crispy fried tofu covered in a sticky and sweet hoisin glaze – yes please! This is a quick and easy dish veggie dish that’s full of flavour from the sauce that works really well with our Tomato and Chilli Couscous. We’re using a vegetarian oyster sauce to keep this as a veggie dish but you can use standard oyster sauce if non-vegetarian. Great with a side of steamed broccoli or pak choi.

Method

Put the corn flour in a bowl and season. Add the tofu slices and toss to coat.

Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium-high heat and add the slices of tofu. Cook on one side for 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. Flip over and cook the other side until crisp.

Meanwhile, put the hoisin, oyster sauce, soy, honey, orange juice, sesame oil and ginger in a small saucepan over a medium-low heat and cook for a minute or two until well combined and sticky.

Prepare the couscous according to the packet instructions.

Remove the tofu from the pan and briefly drain on kitchen paper. Brush the tofu all over with hoisin glaze.

Divide the couscous between serving bowls or plates, top with the tofu and drizzle over any remaining sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, chilli slices and spring onions.
